Day 5 - Tuesday

Slept well but woke up at 5 am again. Seemed like enough sleep for my body and my mind was racing when I woke up. Memories of David are everywhere. It feels like he should be sitting across from me drinking his coffee, making me laugh. But he is gone. Sometimes I am so sad that I feel like I will never recover.

We had our coffee and yogurt and a rather slow morning. I was able to secure park passes for us on Thursday to Haena State Park but no parking passes or shuttle passes so I don't know if we will figure out how to use them.

Headed to Sleeping Giant to hike today. This hike turned out to be stellar. I had hiked to the picnic tables before but never all the way to the top. It was nice doing something I had never done and also quite difficult. Matt and I are well matched hikers and we enjoy it very much. The views for this hike were absolutely incredible. I felt my mood shifting with the moving of my body and the terrible darkness started to dissipate.

After hiking, we stopped at our hole in the wall fish restaurant by our place and had fish tacos. Pretty good but couldn't compare to the place we ate over in Hanapepe.

So tired after lunch! We came back to the room and crashed for a short nap. That hike was steep and we were both feeling it. Headed out to the ocean this afternoon for another swim.

The ocean continues to be so rough. It is fun and invigorating but really beats you up We did a better job of getting out today and managed to not have a gallon of sand in our swimming suits. Went over to the pool and sat in the hot tub and relaxed a while.

Matt wanted to go see the tree by the Sheraton that had breadfruit on it so we walked back over there - I think it is close to a mile. But walk there we did and Matt got to look at his tree. Walked back a slightly different way but we have a lot of steps for this day! Getting close to 20,000.

We cleaned up and decided to go to a place called Napali Brewing for dinner. The website said they had good fish and chips and we thought it was time to see. It was absolutely delicious and we should have just ordered one and shared. The servings were huge.

After dinner, a quick stop at Safeway as we are out of yogurt and couldn't stomach the Coconut Marketplace prices. Got a sala too to eat tomorrow for lunch with our left over fish. And we are into bed by 9 pm. Wow.
